While it may not be possible in all areas, natural pet burial is something you can have in Pembrokeshire as Pembrokeshire Natural Burial Ground has a designated area for pet burial and interment of pets' ashes. They can also include pets ashes as part of a natural burial.

Natural pet burial follows the same ethos as natural burial. This means everything is natural and biodegradable. Memorials are natural and locally sourced and the space used for burial is part of the sustainable management of the burial ground. Not all burial grounds are able to offer pet burial or the inclusion of ashes as you have to get special permission from APHA, but slowly people are starting to realise some natural burial grounds are pet friendly. They offer a space where you can take your dog when you visit and we understand that pets help when we are grieving. While finding somewhere special we can lay our pets to rest is also important as we grieve for our pets too. Many people choose to be at the burial ground because it's a place they love walking their dogs or visiting to watch for wildlife. It’s also a place that animals love, including dogs so it is a really special spot to lay pets to rest.

Natural pet burial offers an eco-friendly alternative to pet cremation as carbon is being locked away into the earth, rather than released into the atmosphere. It can take place with family and friends present or as a direct burial.
