Heart of Pembrokeshire Ceremonies

My name is Sarah and I am an independent celebrant. Since 2012 I have been helping families and couples create personal, eco-friendly, family-focused services known as celebrant-led ceremonies. This includes funerals, also known as ‘celebrations of life’, weddings and ‘ceremonies of love’ including renewal of vows and handfasting ceremonies. It also includes celebrations of new life with baby naming or welcoming ceremonies.

I became a celebrant because I wanted to help create ceremonies that were special and personal. Offering support so people could include the whole family if they wanted to, even pets. An important part of this was finding gentle ways to include children in funerals and to celebrate those who could not be with us. I also wanted people to know they can do things their way. We may have traditions that guide us but as was once said, ‘don’t think outside the box, realise there is no box’. Each ceremony is different and personal to the love that is shared or the life that has been lived. We can include traditions, but we can also find our own way of doing things. That is what a celebrant ceremony is about, creating a ceremony that is perfect for you, whatever this may be.

You can read more about the ceremonies I can help with below. I am based in Pembrokeshire and offer ceremonies across West Wales.

I love working with people to help them create personal, meaningful services that fit them as a family or as a couple. Each and every ceremony is unique which feels right because our lives are unique. Why shouldn’t a ‘ceremony of love’, a ‘celebration of new life’ or a ‘celebration of a life lived’ be the same!

Over the years I have also come to specialise in green funeral practices and natural, down-to-earth ceremonies. It's something I became very passionate about after becoming a celebrant. It then led to me opening my own natural burial ground with Leedam in Pembrokeshire which I run as Landowner and Custodian. This means that I have a good understanding of natural burial practices, but I also support families who want to incorporate green funeral practices into other arrangements whether this is a celebration of life or a ceremony of love. It also includes helping those who are ‘planning ahead’ and want help making their wishes known when it comes to their funeral service and funeral choices. You can find more information about this on the website.
